Xie Delivers Keynote Presentation and Publishes a New Book
December 15, 2008

Yuefeng Xie, professor of environmental engineering at Capital College, delivered the keynote presentation "Disinfection Byproduct Removal and Operator Training for Small Systems" at the 13th Canadian National Drinking Water Conference on October 5th in Quebec City, Canada. Xie presented a cost effective treatment technology, in-tank aeration, for trihalomethane compliance, especially for small water systems. Xie also talked about several chapters of his book in progress, Drinker’s Guide to Water Treatment.

Xie also published a book Disinfection By-products in Drinking Water: Occurrence, formation, health effects, and control with American Chemical Society this summer. Co-edited with Tanju Karanfil at Clemson University, Stuart Krasner at Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and Paul Westerhoff at Arizona State University, this book represents some of the latest research efforts at understanding various important disinfection byproduct-related issues. In 2003, Xie wrote a book in the same subject area, Disinfection Byproducts in Drinking Water: Formation, analysis and control, with CRC Press.
